生於大蕭條時代，他的父親在鍋爐廠辛勞工作之餘，還是持續的唸詩給年幼的他，在惡劣的經濟條件下供養他上大學，如今他繼續散播文學的種子，在2000 年獲得 NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English) 的詩文獎，應該有許多念外文系的人都看過他寫的教科書吧。

「When a poet tries to capture in words . . . how something looks, tastes, smells, feels, or sounds, those descriptions are called images. Images can even help us imagine heat or cold.

Arthur Yorinks 亞瑟. 約林克斯 1953年8月21日

紐約時報說稱他為繼伍迪艾倫之後最詼諧的創作家之一。
他的創作領域包括歌劇、舞台劇、舞蹈、廣播、電影 ...當然他也是一位優秀的作家，除了老搭擋 Richard Egielski 外，他也和 Maurice Sendak、William Steig、David Small ... 等等大師合作。

《Out of My Mind 聽見顏色的女孩》這本書也在昨天 Education Week 關於社區之 Communities Who Value All Members 的推薦書單中。
