出生於愛爾蘭的詩人、劇作家和兒童小說家。一開始，他是為了保留愛爾蘭的 Gaelic 語言和文化才著手寫下愛爾蘭民間故事。酷愛文學藝術的匈牙利畫家 Willy Pógany 威利•波加尼認為他的有著特有的異域民族的風情與魅力，於是兩人開始了 《Homer》《The Adventures of Odysseus》《Tale of Troy》等書的圖文合作。
James Thurber 塞伯 1894年12月8日
塞伯是 New Yorker 紐約客早期重要的作家、漫畫家和編輯之一 (紐約客獨具慧眼以雙倍的薪酬自 New York Evening Post 挖角而來)。他才華洋溢、風姿綽約，能詩、能文、能畫。看似隨手輕捻即成的短語與漫畫，卻教人黏著入迷，無法移開目光。
「Humor is emotional chaos remembered in tranquility. 幽默是寧謐時想起的紛擾躁動的情緒。」
「Laughter need not be cut out of anything, since it improves everything.」「Let us not look back in anger, nor forward in fear, but around in awareness.」「Love is the strange bewilderment that overtakes one person on account of another person.」
他的微黑的童話故事，極適合用來大聲朗讀：

他的父親是一位工程師，在剛發明電燈沒多久的年代，幾乎每一年都舉家遷往到美國不同的城市去幫發電機安裝皮帶。雖然不能好好的在學校裡好好學習，但是他不斷的自我練習藝術創作。結束了一戰的飛行員生活後，經歷了廣告、壁飾而寫作、插畫。他的畫精密細膩，展現出非凡的工藝之美和真實的生活物趣。
Kin Platt 1911年12月8日
70年代受爭議的作家和漫畫家，創作領域大小通吃，為小小孩寫了《Big Max》系列的幼兒偵探，中小孩的 Steve Forrester 懸疑冒險系列 (第一集為《The Blue Man》)，小++大小孩的超能漫畫英雄 Captain Future 等等。還用其它的筆名創作了些長大才適合的漫畫。
Miriam Chaikin 蔡金 1924年12月8日
出生於聖城耶路撒冷，一歲就移民到美國，但是不忘其根本的 Miriam Chaikin。她的創作以猶太文化為基礎，包括《Exodus》等改編聖經故事、記述1933-1945年間納粹大屠殺的《A Nightmare in History》和《I Should Worry, I Should Care》自傳式的小說等等。此外，她也用 Haiku 日本俳句的形式發表《Don't Step on the Sky: A Handful of Haiku》等童詩集。
Mary Azarian 瑪莉‧艾札瑞 1940年12月8日

木刻版畫真迷人，尤其是 Mary Azarian 的作品，沉靜祥和，彷彿是刻板人將她所閱歷與經歷月，和一輪輪木紋所承載的年歲，靜默的混和在一起，經過雕刀的鋒刃、輥輪的迴轉 ... 而時光凝結。
